Burmese Python

Burmese Python….these snakes are the largest subspecies of the Indian Python and is one of the six largest snakes in the world, they can weigh up to two hundred pounds and can grow up to 240 inches in length, but they usually average twelve foot long. In apperance the Burmese Python are light coloured with brown blotches bordered in black down the back. Their diet like all snakes is small mammals, pythons are constrictors and so dont have any fangs but they do have back-curving teeth which thet use to seize the animal so that it cannot escape, they are also non- venomous. The Burmese Python is one of the most giant snake species of the world and can grow very quickly, by the time thay reach their first birthday they can be seven feet in length. You will need to start your Burmese Python off in a 55-gallon tank, which has a sliding door front opening with a lock, but your snake will outgrow this enclosure in about a years time, by this time they will need a very secure enclosure the size of a small room ( minimum 25 square feet ) it has to be spacious enough so that you the owner can walk into clean this area as the Burmese Python can leave feces which are quite large and will require a shoval to remove them. Your pythons enclosure must be well vetilated but at the same time you must make sure that all windows and door are escape proof. The Burmese Python is a very, very strong powerful snake that can push through these openings, a Burmese must never be allowed to roam free. Two hiding places are recommened in its enclosure so that it feels safe and secure, a good substrate for adults is cypress bark as this absorbs moisture well and helps maintain the humidity levels.
